TransportAPI is currently working to deliver bus departure predictions for every stop in the country by bringing together all possible real-time information (RTI) sources into a single place. At present NextBuses - powered by TransportAPI, operated under brand licence agreement with Traveline, delivers predictions made by city and county RTI schemes through a single interface and according to the international SIRI-SM standard.
However, in rural areas across the country, there is no RTI available at stops despite tracking information about buses being available from the Bus Open Data Service in England and operators in other places. This webinar sets out the background to the current national RTI situation with an introduction from Julie Gray of Traveline and details of how the current NextBuses - powered by TransportAPI service works by Jonathan Raper of TransportAPI.
The webinar will go on to explain how TransportAPI is delivering bus departure predictions for stops not currently served by NextBuses. This process is heavily dependent on data quality processes that allow open data from many different sources to be integrated into bus prediction RTI, and the webinar will look at these processes in detail with David Mountain of TransportAPI.
You can register for the webinar on Thursday, 22 October 2026 at this link and the webinar will be accessible through the RTIG YouTube channel.
